Vyriad Life Sciences

A single shot to cure cancer. That is the mission of Vyriad, a clinical-stage biotechnical company located on the Rochester Technology Campus (formerly the IBM campus). The innovative and incredibly high-tech company is developing oncolytic therapies to cure cancer. Campus infrastructure and proximity to the Mayo Clinic made the iconic campus the ideal place for the team to expand their research. Our goal was to customize the existing 25,000 SF building into a place that could facilitate their life-changing work. Utilizing strategic, intentional details, we re-designed the suite into a space that provides the technology and environment tailored for Vyriad’s specific needs and allows for future growth and capabilities within the facility.

Working with Flad Architects and MEP Associates, we focused on a seamless design plan of the interior spaces, including state-of-the-art laboratories and a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facility. These modular facilities, built by Benike Construction, can also be re-organized and arranged to accommodate future expansion. RSP also lead the design of the main entrance, office areas, conference rooms and huddle spaces to encourage collaboration and connection.

One important aspect of the design plan was showcasing client’s dynamic brand and identity. Shadowing the vivacious Vyriad logo, bold pops of color and textures can be seen from the ceilings, to the walls to the carpet, emphasizing the exciting work happening inside the facility. Movement, brightness and flow were also highlighted throughout the space. Floor-to-ceiling transparent glass separates conference rooms, while custom graphics make the lobby and office areas feel vibrant. Paying careful attention to efficiency in the layout, RSP included ample pathways in lab and work spaces.

Vyriad is focused on cancer treatments that utilize the most modern technologies. Their work is reshaping the way patients, physicians and families see a cancer diagnosis. RSP delivered an innovative and functional design that will transform the way Vyriad tests and manufactures its therapies. A place where a cancer patient’s future is changed. A place where cancer has no shot.
