Showcasing the unexpected.
As a sand-supply source for oil companies, Total Sand Solution (TSS) knows how to manage unpredictability. TSS is a critical component in large-scale fracking projects. They have developed innovative software tools that track deliveries in real-time, ensuring consistent service in an fast-paced industry. As a leader in the field, TSS wanted their Fort Worth corporate office designed in a way that showcased their expertise. That combined efficiency, elegance and a splash of vivacity. The goal was to design a space that showed clients and employees that TSS is a thoughtful and inventive company. From the floor, to the ceiling, to the elevators, the space is intentionally crafted to lead visitors and staff on a journey through TSS’s story.
TSS was drawn to the exposed concrete floors in the space and wanted to keep the raw look as the foundation for the design. Paying close attention to the client’s desired aesthetic, RSP played up the industrial edge of the design but added textures and colors that humanize and soften the space, including glass, metal and reclaimed wood. While the floor plan is designed to showcase the work spaces, the control room is the star of the show. Wall-length monitors outline the TSS control room, showcasing the technology-rich environment of the company. Adhering to the client’s desire for transparency and a line of sight throughout the office, RSP included garage doors in the adjacent conference room that can be easily shut for privacy. In the conference room, pillars of concrete and slabs of wood climb from wall to ceiling, giving the room ample texture. The work spaces throughout the office are seamlessly harmonized in an open-floor plan. Each private office and conference door have a clear glass door, further adding to the openness of the space and encouraging employees to collaborate. Silver pipes and vents snake along the ceiling, adding texture to the exposed wood beams. Floor-to-ceiling windows cut through the undulating ribbons of dark and light wood along the walls. Slender brushed metal handles and flat black door frames add elegant touches.
Each corner office was designed with collaboration and comfort in mind. Designated conference spaces set themselves apart with sleek, modern furniture. Accessories like cactus plants and long-horned cattle figurines keep each room personal to Texas. Tucked in the center of the work and offices areas is a sleek kitchen, stocked with healthy foods for hard-working staff. Outside the office, the same raw slate concrete floor pools around a set of elevators, each marked with a number made from hand-cut metal.
From the steel details of the desks, to the concrete floors to the wooden walls, RSP curated a thoughtful design plan that celebrates the materials that fuel TSS. But with elements of comfort, style and care, it also celebrates and shows appreciation for the employees that make TSS successful. While the proppant industry may be unpredictable, the TSS corporate space promises respite.
