Active Living in the Heart of Cutler Bay
The former Southland Mall will soon give way to Southplace City Center, a dynamic mixed-use environment featuring a variety of lifestyle components. The heart of the development will feature a new town center with a green lawn for outdoor events. The existing mall anchor spaces – Macy’s, JC Penney, LA Fitness, and Regal Cinema – will become key elements of this community gathering place as the former mall shops become the home to various outdoor lifestyle tenants that include 120,000 SF of restaurants, wellness, service shops, and fashion.
The focus on wellness and an active lifestyle continues throughout the design of the site, with 8 stories of multi-family units overlooking the town center and central green. Special events such as concerts, art festivals, farmers markets, and car shows will provide additional opportunities for community gathering.
Moving through the site and away from the town center, the former mall parking lots will give way to inviting pocket parks and water features with walkable and connected city blocks. This area will feature additional multi-family options totaling more than 2,000 units, plus a 160-key hotel and approximately 400,000 SF of additional retail and entertainment. As the name implies, this will be the new Southplace “City Center” of Cutler Bay, FL.
