St. Cloud State University Student Health Academic Center
Removing the stigma associated with mental health
An alarming number of college students face depression, eating disorders, anxiety, substance abuse and more. In an effort to develop a student’s whole self – not just his/her mind – SCSU has transformed a former gym into an innovative center for well-being at Eastman Hall.
To fully understand the nuances involved, RSP Dreambox led an experience design process, informing the architectural design. Our healthcare and life sciences team executed the programming with a goal to become a place where integration, acceptance and connections happen. SCSU’s student health-related services — Student Health Services (SHS), Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS), U-Choose and the Recovery Community — are now combined with the academic programs in the School of Health and Human Services. The renovation supports the integration of primary care and behavioral health, and is a safe place delivering healthcare for thousands of students. The opportunities for interdisciplinary experiential learning in preparing students for their careers is now supported through their new space.
