Confidential Academic Research Institution
Technical Service, Resilient Results
Data center upgrades are no simple task. And reliable, secure technology is not optional. RSP engineers have worked alongside this academic research institution for over 10 years, gradually upgrading the infrastructure of their 25,000-SF Tier III Data Center and handling ongoing improvements. The site includes approximately 11,000 SF of “white space” with an IT load of 1MW and 2N redundant power and cooling, along with 2N 1.8MW generators and redundant primary 15KV service.
RSP developed a detailed phasing plan and cutover sequencing to ensure zero downtime during construction. The current phase of the project replaces two (N+1) UPS systems with a redundant 1.2MW UPS system with flooded batteries. In addition, the output of the UPS system will connect to an output distribution board with 2N static switches. The system will back-feed existing PDUs. Beyond engineering design services, RSP provides commissioning oversight for the facility’s critical mechanical and electrical systems.
