Bind On-Demand Health Insurance

Minneapolis-based Bind Benefits is a small company with big ideas, wanting to change the way people think of, and utilize, their health insurance. As a start-up, they had initially moved into a sparse space and after a few years of healthy growth, they were ready to upgrade their office. Bind came to RSP because they wanted their space designed in a way that reflected the refined energy and forward-thinking spirit of the company.

Just outside the building are the blue waters of Bde Maka Ska, a shining star in the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. RSP created a design plan that highlighted the view, taking advantage of the existing wall-to-wall windows. Throughout the two floors, transparency and flow are emphasized by an open floor plan, with direct views to the lake from all lobbies, break zones and collaboration spaces. With a goal to recruit talent and maintain their flat hierarchy, benching work stations meander through the space. Plenty of phone and focus rooms provide space for heads-down, focused work.

With a concept drawn from nature, wood-paneled walls soften the space. Edgy custom wall graphics serve as dynamic conversation starters, illustrated by historical disruptions in the healthcare industry. The series depict vintage ads and highlight forward-thinking ideas. Light ceilings and frosted light fixtures add hints of elegance  while collaboration spaces with vibrant furniture and textured carpeting create energy. In the work cafe, specialty light fixtures double as planters and the inviting coffee bar practically begs you to sit down and have a cup. With a dynamic design created on a fast track, we delivered an inspired space that allows Bind to continually evolve as a company.
