Bell Tower
A Beacon for Community
It’s a story duplicated across the country—a shopping center that did well for decades suddenly finds itself with empty anchors and dark storefronts. After 30 years in business, Bell Tower was facing this challenge, despite its prominent location in Fort Myers. RSP stepped in with a transformative solution.
The original scope of the project was to renovate a departing anchor into a mixed-use tenant space. But RSP had another idea in mind that could potentially attract more people. Instead of reconditioning an existing box, our team recommended transforming and restoring the entire site. After touring Bell Tower, our team sketched out this idea with developer Madison Marquette, a long-time client and trusted partner, and the Bell Tower comprehensive redevelopment plan was born.
The design for the 343,000-SF mixed-use center opens up the space by removing overhangs and forming higher storefronts, improving site lines and daylighting. Color, purposeful lighting and landscaping bring life back to the shops. The expanded entries and revitalized center court create a welcoming destination, activate the streetscape and encourage community activity.
