Avienda
Master planning for long-term success
Chanhassen is a small town with a lot to offer. Like its close proximity to Minneapolis. Its twelve lakes and nearly 900 acres of parks and trails. And, most notably, its claim to fame as home to Paisley Park, Prince’s private estate and recording studio.
But the city was short of mixed-use destinations that offered shopping, dining, living and working in one location. Level 7 Development saw an opportunity to cultivate an unoccupied 118-acre site, and RSP was chosen to lead the overall design of the master plan. Together, we’re creating Avienda, a healthy way of life village focused on pedestrian-friendly pathways, an energetic mix of retail and dining and a sustainable design approach.
“Our goal is to think conceptually about the long-term impact of the development. We’re analyzing everything from the entry and flow to the detail in the design that will attract shoppers and tenants,” said Jeff Hysjulien, Associate Principal with RSP’s Retail Studio.
The design, still in process, plays on the local landscape by embracing timeless architectural features and forms, complemented by natural elements, retaining a portion of the natural habitat. Logistically, we’re identifying new roads, entry points and parking lots that transition seamlessly to the adjacent residential neighborhood, for welcoming, easy access.
