Asili Clinic
A beacon of hope
One in six children in the Democratic Republic of Congo will not live to age 5. Preventable and/or treatable diseases like pneumonia, diarrhea, malnutrition are common. Asili is working to improve the lives of the Congolese. A business concept co-created by the people of Congo, USAID, IDEO and Alight, Asili is a model for long-term sustainable development using business practices. There’s clean water. An agriculture cooperative. A reliable health clinic. And that’s where RSP comes in.
RSP collaborated with ARC to design a health clinic that was not only buildable and affordable, but also comfortable. Our prototype maximizes efficiency while remaining meaningful to the community. From the welcoming, bright colors of the Asili logo painted on the exterior to a large front porch where families gather while waiting to see the doctor. A consistently stocked pharmacy. Private patient rooms. Even a kids corner complete with art materials and toys. Every square inch of the clinic was thoughtfully designed with the community in mind.
Within its first year, ARC has opened four Asili Clinics across the Congo. The clinic stands out as a beacon of hope and change within one of the world’s poorest regions.
