Victor J. Irizarry
If you want to learn about Victor J. Irizarry, Senior Associate and architectural designer in RSP’s Phoenix office, read “The Little Prince.” As a designer, comic book illustrator and drawing teacher, his favorite book speaks volumes about his relationship to design. In his own graphic novels, a powerful imagination is his character’s superpower. There is always more beneath the surface in his stories. That also translates into his work as an architectural designer. He loves projects that push the envelope and that solve problems in creative ways.
One important thing to know about Victor is that he loves sketching. So much so that he teaches an elective of his own creation: Looking, Thinking, Sketching. He has also been a guest artist at several Comicons, espousing the importance of art and storytelling and connecting with other creators. His process includes hand sketching as well as digital tools, to create a rich story and communicate design ideas clearly and quickly. Another is that he believes trust between the client and architect is crucial to a successful partnership. No matter the scope of his work, Victor strives to add function, beauty and elegance to his projects. And always a touch of imagination.
