Mobile IT Workplace
The challenge for this workplace wasn’t introducing mobility. In fact, it was the opposite. Our interior design had to entice hip, young, and very mobile IT programmers to want to come to an office. Every day. And not go work at the coffee shop. Or sit at home in their sweats. So our design had to engage. It had to support workers used to working anywhere at any time. And it had to fit within an over-arching Fortune 50 corporate brand and culture where the rest of the real estate program was just starting to embrace an open office, free address program. Armed with these guidelines, our designers dove in and created spaces that support teams, relationships, innovation and performance.
The result of this three floor renovation is a completely moveable workspace that allows employees to decide how they want to work and where. Every piece of furniture is on wheels. Power cords hanging from the ceiling are a design element as well as necessity. Each 60,000SF floor features a work café and clearly defined neighborhoods with a variety of seating options and levels of privacy. We used abstract shape and color to define each neighborhood and support a collaborative team environment. Chalkboards and writable walls encourage teams to mark their territory. Huddle rooms offer privacy when needed.
