WilMa on the Drive
A Catalyst for Community
The city of Wilton Manors, Florida, strategically amended their building code to spark economic growth, foster a sense of place and create a pedestrian-friendly experience along Wilton Drive, a major commercial spine. The change, which included an increase in allowable density, created the opportunity to transform an existing single-story shopping center into a thriving mixed-use community in the heart of the city’s Arts and Entertainment District.
RSP’s plan capitalizes on the opportunity, drawing on the development’s appeal within the local community and creating a greater sense of place and civic focus. Select existing tenants, including local favorites Hunters, Java Boys and Georgie’s Alibi, will remain and form the core of the repositioned development.
Rebranded as WilMa on the Drive, the plan combines 29,000 SF of the existing center with 20,000 SF of new commercial space, 252 residential units and 465 structured parking spaces. Residents will enjoy a large pool deck overlooking downtown Fort Lauderdale, a fitness center, spa, pet zone, pub room and a sky lounge complete with an outdoor movie theater overlooking Wilton Drive.
