Camp Parks Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF)
Avoiding the Pleasanton Fault, with plenty of space to repair
The Camp Parks Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF) is located at Parks Reserve Forces Training Area which supports military readiness for the Army Reserve. As a sub-installation of Fort Hunter Liggett in Dublin, CA, the original 1950’s wood-framed structure needed to be replaced. RSP designed the new 33,000 SF facility to accommodate the vehicle types of today’s Army.
After on-site excavation and geotechnical study defined a historic fault location, the building’s placement was carefully reconfigured to avoid placing it on the Pleasanton Fault. The new facility provides a maintenance area with 24 vehicle work areas and an abundance of daylight. Each bay has access to a 10-ton bridge crane, vehicle exhaust hose reel, fluid distribution and extraction systems, compressed air outlets, specialty power connections and more. An adjacent equipment alcove provides easy access for efficient vehicle flow to fix any issues that arise. Also efficient – the energy consumption. The building is designed in compliance with Energy Policy Act 2005 and ASHRAE Standard 90.1, to be at least 40% lower than a baseline building.
Beyond the vehicle repair area, the three-building tenant groups have dedicated tool and parts management areas, armorer and electrical repair spaces. They also share an administration area, production control office, a flexible classroom/breakroom, as well as spacious locker rooms. Designed to achieve LEED Silver certification and up-to-date access to amenities, the building was greeted with enthusiasm by its users and property managers.
