Just steps from Arizona State University’s Tempe campus, a red brick 1950s building exudes appealing charm. Formerly a schoolhouse and more recently an extension of ASU’s Art Department, the building has been transformed into Postino Annex. The restaurant — the latest outpost of a burgeoning local dining concept — immediately captures your attention with an eye-catching, activated street presence.
The design blends the 4,200 SF brick structure’s historic charm with modern features, including a large, full-service bar with operable garage doors that meld the indoor and outdoor spaces. Polished concrete floors, exposed trusses and pops of rich color enhance the cozy nature of the restaurant and encourage guests to linger. Outside, a spacious patio punctuated with market umbrellas is enclosed with Corten steel planters, infusing desert-appropriate landscape into the space.
Postino Annex’s eclectic atmosphere accommodates large groups in a family-style setting while also offering smaller private booths separated by racks of wine. A variety of purposeful lighting and local artwork enhances the ambiance and helps create a distinctive dining experience.
