Whole Foods Distribution (Video)
“The way that Whole Foods appreciates and values their team members, is very much the same way we approach the design…how are they going to use it? What are the things that are going to make them successful?”
Since opening in Fall 2017, the competitive and motivated team of 100 have embraced the building with pride, dramatically improving their average cases per hour picked and moving from 7th place in the Whole Foods Distribution Center network to 2nd. That means total production has increased because people are energetic, reducing labor hours and ultimately cutting costs to the customer.
In alignment with the Whole Foods mission, the building is 20% more electrically efficient than its predecessor. The warehouse refrigeration system and administrative cooling system is 55% more efficient by using only natural refrigerant. Nothing is wasted, including capturing the excess process heat which is redistributed to heat the sub-floors in the freezers. Occupancy light sensors and high-efficiency LED lighting systems throughout reduce operational costs.
