Sitting in a fishing boat smiling. That’s the photo George chooses to feature on his profile. It was taken by his son while out catching Northerns. Which tells you a bit about the man. Friendly. Real. Honest. Caring. All stellar attributes for one of RSP’s premier business development gurus. Simply put: George is a people person. He connects instantly with anyone and is a gifted conversationalist. George came to work with us about a decade ago, focused on developing relationships throughout Southeast Minnesota. He’s the ideal guy for the job, having served as CEO of the Development Corporation of Austin and “community junkie.” His term. Used to refer to his passion for working with others to create better places.
When not out connecting people, George is a part-time professor at St. Mary’s University teaching graduate classes in leadership and management. He’s almost always teaching us something as well and is currently recommending everyone read Outliers by Malcom Gladwell and Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. He especially appreciates Brown’s theory that we must accept our personal vulnerability in order to create. Which sort of bring us back around to the picture on his resume. The joy on George’s face is the moment he realized that his son, who had never caught a big fish before, had just landed the trophy winner. Always the consummate gentleman.
