Elevating the coffee game at MSP Airport.
When Caribou Coffee decided to refresh their location at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, we considered it an opportunity to “stimulate” standard store design. (Pun intended.) With more than 25 locations under our belt, our design team kicked things up a notch, creating a highly efficient yet brand-centric environment for the national chain’s busiest location.
Previous conditions were cramped and dark. An obscure queue for ordering and a tight galley for brewing drinks needed improvement. “Our goal was to approach the design with Caribou’s contemporary and cozy style but elevate the space with state-of-the-art materials to create a truly authentic and modern experience,” shared Natina James, Senior Associate with our Food and Beverage studio.
The new design is attractive and functional. The space is now better prepared to accommodate customers in a rush – and, welcome those that can relax to take a seat in the expanded seating area, complete with a welcoming fireplace. To increase visibility and brand awareness, we maximized the height and depth of the space. An updated façade with larger signage is now backlit. A distinct entry enhances the experience for luggage-toting customers, while more room behind the counter improves fluid activity for baristas during busy times.
